Keith Haringā€™s Works Revived on the Blockchain

Although heā€™s more famous for being an influential figure in pop art that emerged from the graffiti subculture in The Big Apple, Keith Haring played an important role in pioneering the digital art movement. Over three decades ago, Haring became one of the first to create art using an Amiga computer gifted to him by the psychologist and author, Timothy Leary.

For the first time ever, five digital drawings by Haring will be minted on the Ethereum blockchain, proposing a new standard for using the blockchain to store and authenticate historical digital art.

Keith Haring: Pixel Pioneer is an online auction of these five unique pieces minted by the Keith Haring Foundation in collaboration with Christieā€™s, where the pieces will be exhibited. The auction opened for bids on September 12 and will close on September 20. The Christieā€™s exhibition first went live in Seoul from September 7-8 and then in NYC from September 14ā€“19.

We were thrilled to see that Grant Yun was tapped as a panelist during the NYC show. Itā€™s such a huge moment for contemporary art culture, and bringing it home to New York, where it all started, underlines its significance.

We spotted a bunch of legends on the scene too. Sam Spratt, Dave Krugman, Anthony Azekwoh, Molly McCutchen, Ben Skaar, and many more amazing folks came out to show support, making it such a wholesome event!

ā€˜FigurAItionā€™ Curated by Grant Yun

It was a busy week in NYC for Grant Yun. In collaboration with Bright Moments Gallery, the prolific artist curated an AI-themed exhibition titled ā€˜FigurAItion.ā€™

Hosted in Brooklyn on Friday, September 15, the show was a thought-provoking exploration of the convergence of artificial intelligence and creativity in the modern day. Through emerging technologies such as AI algorithms, artists are redefining the concept of figuration in art by producing captivating figurative artworks that bridge the gap between the virtual and physical realms.

From the realism of Baroque and Renaissance-era paintings to the abstract and impressionist works that defined the 20th century, figuration in art has evolved along with human creativity and curiosity. With artificial intelligence, we are witnessing new forms of expression as artists seek to translate their unique perspectives of the world by collaborating with computers and machines in unprecedented ways.

The exhibition featured works by Claire Silver, Emi Kusano, Ganbrood, Kevin Abosch, Holly Herndon, and Mat Dryhurst.

Top Sales of the Week šŸ”„

This week's biggest haul on Foundation was the result of some secondary market action on this piece titled ā€˜Simsā€™ by CMPLX. It was acquired from the GM World vault for 4.46 ETH, finding a new home at the ccwmode vault.

On SuperRare, the top sale of the week was this 7 ETH purchase by antxx. This AlienQueen piece titled ā€˜The Thinkerā€™ is yet another heavy dose of trippy and macabre motifs that have come to define the artistā€™s beloved style.
