Hey there!

Super exciting updates this week — boy, are we glad that you could join us. We’ve been embracing the budding art community on Threads, which has shaped up to be a treasure trove for artist discovery.

But we’re also feeling pumped about events popping up on our radar. Here’s the gist of this week’s newsletter:

  • CryptoPunks Meetup at Beeple Studios

  • Red Bull Racing Velocity Series: Spotlights on Blockchain Art

  • Exclusive Interview with Suliana André

  • Top Sales of the Week 🔥

CryptoPunks Meetup at Beeple Studios

The world’s most exclusive PFP community is hosting a meetup in South Carolina, and the best part is that you could attend this event absolutely FREE of charge! It’s a chance to connect with all your favorite Punks and share in spirited discussions on art, the community’s journey so far, and so much more.

It’s taking place at Beeple Studios in Charleston, South Carolina. The doors open for the day event at 1 p.m. on September 30, 2023, and close at 4 p.m. The evening kicks off at 8 p.m., with drinks, music, and good vibes flowing until midnight.

Now, here’s the juicy part — your art could be featured at the event (and you could win a free ticket too!). All you have to do is submit your CryptoPunk fan art here.

Please note that this event is rated 21+.

Red Bull Racing Velocity Series: Spotlights on Blockchain Art

“Velocity Series” represents the interplay between art and motorsports. This project is a collaboration between giant brands in Web2 and Web3 (Bybit, Oracle, and Red Bull Racing) and digital artists. It’s a testament to the rise of data-driven art in a highly digital society.

Using dynamic NFT technology, the collectibles are programmed to evolve over the course of the season. This creates a unique experience for holders.

Each unique collectible is inspired by race team data and telemetry from the RB19 F1 car. The series comprises four drops coinciding with the Dutch, Japan, United States, and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix throughout the 2023 Formula 1 season.

The third drop is slated as a collaboration between Red Bull Racing and Artblocks co-founder Eric Calderon. When you hear that the creator of the iconic Chromie Squiggles is cooking up something special with big-name brands, your ears perk up. We’re keeping our eyes peeled too.

Exclusive Interview with Suliana André

We recently hosted our maiden art contest on Zuck’s latest social app, and the response was mind-blowing. The community absolutely flooded us with a whopping 70 submissions from 32 different artists in less than 24 hours 🤯

One of the winning entries was this amazing work of art titled ‘Ratu Adil’ by Suliana André. It’s a haunting composition that pays homage to an Indonesian folklore legend, mesmerizing the senses with its simplicity and mysterious aura.

Over the weekend, we got a chance to catch up with Suliana André.

Here’s how our conversation went:

Thanks for joining us this week. Let's start with a brief introduction. Who is Suliana Andre?

Hi! I’m a 25-year-old multidisciplinary artist from Indonesia. I bagged a degree in Desigm from Kuningan University in 2022. My works have been exhibited in Indonesia (Kuningan, Cirebon, Bandung, Bali, Jakarta, and Gorontalo) and abroad (Rome, Italy). I’ve also had the honor of participating in Web3 art shows such as the CODA 8 (Curation of Digital Art) and CODA 9 exhibitions. I am also active member of The URS (Underground Royalty Society) and a local collective, Pojokan Creative.

You've worked extensively with different media, including photography. Tell us about your creative journey and how it has influenced your artistic style.

Since 2016, I have pursued various disciplines, including video art, traditional painting, digital art, and photography. I think the artist should be able to express what they feel without being bound by the medium. Exploring and experimenting on art is very fun for me and that’s why sometimes I find it difficult to describe my own style.

Do you like to create art based on themes, or are you more of a spontaneous type?

I like both. I have several collections ranging from abstract, to still life, and figurative works. For abstract pieces, I prefer to be spontaneous; and with figurative and still life, I prefer a theme, making everything like an implied story which gives the collection a feeling of consistency.

Congrats on your residency at HeartX! What's something that you're excited to do with this opportunity?

I just want to create more art and improve on the quality of my work, and I’m happy to have been invited to join in this experience.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. Any parting words for the Web3 art community?

In the current situation bear market, many artists leave, but we must know why we are here, lest the harsh market conditions make us forget our reasons for making art. Here’s a quote that I love: “Art is not just for artists, it is for anyone who is willing to explore their creativity and embrace their inner artist”.

Top Sales of the Week 🔥

This week on SuperRare, the top sale was for this piece by PlaceOfMany, titled ‘Glitch Bitch.’ It was taken off the market for 6 ETH by an anonymous collector.

It was really nice to see some secondary market action on Foundation this week. The biggest sale was a 5.1 ETH trade between anonymous collectors. The piece at the heart of it all is called ‘Oitavio’ by Omentejovem.

Spotlights on…

Big shoutout to the winners of our maiden art share contest on Threads! 🏆🏆🏆
